Diaphragm Seals
Diaphragm seals are protective devices used to isolate sensitive pressure measurement instruments from harsh process fluids and challenging environmental conditions. Comprising a flexible diaphragm secured between two rigid housing components, these seals transmit pressure from the process medium to the instrument through a stable, inert fill fluid, ensuring accurate pressure readings without direct contact between the instrument and the aggressive or hazardous media.
Diaphragm seals prevent contamination, corrosion, clogging, or damage to sensitive instruments caused by abrasive, corrosive, viscous, or toxic process fluids. By isolating measurement devices from direct media contact, diaphragm seals significantly extend instrument lifespan, enhance reliability, reduce maintenance costs, and maintain measurement accuracy and safety, thereby minimizing downtime and potential risks associated with process leaks or equipment failure.
Diaphragm seals are used in the chemical processing, oil and gas, pharmaceuticals, food and beverage production, pulp and paper, water treatment, power generation, mining, and petrochemical sectors. Their robust design and compatibility with numerous materials make them essential for accurate and reliable pressure measurement in challenging industrial environments.
Applications encompass protecting pressure gauges, transmitters, and switches in corrosive chemical reactors, sanitary food processing lines, slurry handling systems, high-temperature processes, and hazardous material storage. By providing an effective barrier, diaphragm seals enhance instrumentation performance and overall process safety.
