Vibration Level Switches

Vibration level switches, also known as tuning fork level switches, are precision instruments used in industrial process control to detect the presence or absence of bulk solids and liquids. They operate by utilizing a piezoelectric crystal to vibrate a metal fork at its natural frequency. When the material being monitored contacts the vibrating fork, it dampens the vibration, triggering an output signal indicating the level condition.

These switches offer significant benefits in industrial applications due to their robust construction and reliability under harsh operating conditions. They provide maintenance-free operation, have no moving mechanical parts prone to wear or clogging, and offer precise switching accuracy regardless of changes in the density, dielectric constant, or conductivity of the measured medium. Their compact size and easy installation make them highly versatile for integration into existing control systems.

Vibration level switches are widely used across various industries, including chemical processing, food and beverage manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, cement and aggregate handling, and wastewater treatment. Typical applications involve high- and low-level alarm monitoring, overfill protection, dry-run protection for pumps, and detection of interface levels in tanks or vessels.

In hazardous environments, vibration level switches provide additional safety features with certifications for use in explosive atmospheres, ensuring reliable level detection and helping facilities meet stringent regulatory compliance standards.
